1. What is Forgiveness?

No matter what I think my brother has done to me that wasn’t loving, in ultimate reality it did not occur. Forgiveness recognises this and therefore lets go of the false.

An unforgiving thought is one that will not be questioned even though it is false. This is the sign of a closed mind and I want to be open today! If I’m not careful, one untrue thought will quickly lead to another and another and another, for the ego – which can conceive of an unforgiving thought – is relentless.

But, like the unforgiving thoughts it entertains, the ego does not exist. Anything that can harbour notions of attack is a fantasy.

Forgiveness, as the Course says, ‘judges not’. And if I for any reason am unable to forgive, I am clearly locked in the grip of judgement in a vain attempt to justify my reasons not to forgive. I am trapped in the data!

Today I will clean with the key words of Ho’oponopono:

I love you. I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you.

… that I may forgive and not be led into temptation!

I will let forgiveness lead the way. I have been forgiven because, as a Son of God, I have never been condemned. Let me share that message today that we all may be free.

Amen.
