Lesson 61: I am the light of the world.

I am the light of the world.

It all sounds a bit grandiose, doesn’t it?

But this is exactly what the data – what the Course calls the ego – would have me believe. How important am I!

But in the next breath the data would also have me believe that I’m not worthy to be the light of world. Why would someone as stupid as me be given such a mammoth and important task? I can’t win!

But in God’s eyes the light of the world is exactly what I am – no more and no less than you! And if He personally chose that role for me, I will accept it!

We are all the light of the world, all equally important to the project.

Understanding this idea will help me to accept my true function here: to forgive myself and everyone else. We are all equally perfect and brilliant in God’s eyes.

It is only the data that is imperfect and keeps me hidden from my true worth. Salvation is impossible if I am not ready to recognise my right to be saved and my power to save others. I will have to come to this conclusion in the end because if salvation is God’s will, it will happen!

Today I will meditate on today’s idea as often as possible and I will tell myself:

“I am the light of the world. That is my only function. That is why I am here.”

… and then, to help keep me grounded, I will repeat the key words of Ho’oponopono:

I love you. I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you.

I will think of today’s idea every time the illusion – the data – threatens to drag me down. I want to remain on purpose, and the cleaning will help me do that.

“I am the light of the world. I love you, I’m sorry, Forgive me, Thank you.”
