Lesson 71: Only God’s plan for salvation will work.

Only God’s plan for salvation will work.

This is one of the key Lessons of the Course. It gives me unmistakable clarity as to what my ego’s plan for salvation is.

And not surprisingly, it is 180o removed from God’s.

The ego – the data – tells me in sincerity that if only [person] would behave differently, life would be great. If [situation] changed to be more like [outcome], happiness and success would surely follow. If [person] would only [do ‘x’], I could finally find peace.

In other words, if things on the outside would just change, there would be nothing to worry about! It’s nothing to do with me, it’s ‘them’! It’s their fault my life is the way it is. I’m completely innocent.

Reality check: the data’s mantra is “seek but do not find.”

I can never hope to find the answers in the world of illusion and pain.

Salvation is not in the data. It is in the mind I share with God. That is where I must look for it, on the inside.

It’s all in me!

The trick at this point is to only look for salvation where it truly is and ignore the insane beliefs of the memories. I cannot serve two masters.

Today, then, I will take 100% responsibility for where I put my attention and follow the plan for salvation that will definitely work. This would make sense given my own plans have failed time and time again!

I will ask God to reveal His plan by using one of the key prayers of the Course:

“What would you have me do?

Where would you have me go?

What would you have me say and to whom?”

… and follow up with the key words of Ho’oponopono:

I love you. I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you.

I am willing to hear His words to me today. I am willing to listen. I am willing to clean and be free. I am willing to follow the plan He gives me. Therein lies the peace of God.

“Only God’s plan for salvation will work. I love you, I’m sorry, Forgive me, Thank you.”
