ACIM Lesson 17

I see no neutral things.

This Lesson explains why I have no neutral thoughts.

And here’s the kicker: the thought always comes before the seeing.

This is how cause and effect work: thoughts are causes and what I ‘see’ is the effect.

Best then, to stay close to the causes and monitor those rather than try to alter the effects. When the cause alters, so will the effect. Hurrah!

So, I will look about me today and, on noticing each ‘thing’ I will say:

“I do not see a neutral [table], because my thoughts about [tables] are not neutral.”

And after I have acknowledged each thing I will release it by ‘cleaning’ the underlying thought about it with the key words of Ho’oponopono:

I love you, I’m sorry, Forgive me, Thank you.

Neale Donald Walsch touched on this concept in the Conversations with God series, only he referred to it as the ‘sponsoring thought’. This is the thought that ultimately sets up what you see and get to experience in the physical.

If I can clean these ‘sponsoring thoughts’, I literally can change my life and everything in it. The thought is where it’s at!

And, like Ho’oponopono, it’s not enough to just try and do this for one hour or a day or a week. It needs to be a moment-to-moment process, a state of what some, including Neale, would call ‘constant prayer’. I’m sorry there is no ‘easy’ button! But I will nevertheless keep cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. I will do my best to ‘pray without ceasing’ because I want to be free and live the best life I can.
